Welcome to Santiasko

Hello everybody, how are you? Now, I would like to talk about my city, Santiasko, and give suggestions for tourists who come here.
What things should they do?
1. Visit the Government Palace, La Moneda, in the center of my city. There works our President, Sebastian Piñera, and many of his Ministers. This place is one of the most important for its symbolism, for its history. In La Moneda died Mr. Salvador Allende, the first Marxist president in the world who came to power through elections.
2. Visit the "Cousiño Palace": was built between 1870 and 1878 by the french architect Paul Lathoud on request of Mr. Luis Cousiño’s widow; Isidora Goyenechea.
The Cousiño-Goyenechea was a very wealthy family, owner of Lota Coal Mines,Chañarcillo Silver Mines and also the Cousiño - Macul Vineyard which still belonging to the family. Like an european palace is composed with rooms in the first floor for different functions: the Golden Room for dancings, the Music Room with the original piano, the Recevoir Room, the Tea Room, the Dinning Room, Hall, Weapons Room and the Picture Gallery . All of them were decorated with material brought from France in the family’s ships.
3. Visit "El chiflón del diablo": is a mine located in Lota, Chile. After coal production fell in the Lota area in the 1990's, the mine was shut down. Currently, "El Chiflón del Diablo" serves as tourist attraction. In 19th cenury, the mine was property of Cousiño's family. The miners were very poor, and many of them died inside the mine, for intoxication, explotions or dehydration. It is a good idea: the tourist will know the contrast that existed in our country, between rich and poor, and still exists.
4."La Piojera", very popular restaurant. The tourists must drink "Earthquake".
5. General Cemetery of Santiago: they are burried our most important poets, artists and politicians.
